Tom Curran
Director, Producer, Camera
An Emmy Award-winning cameraman, Tom makes
his directing debut with ADRIFT. At the 2000 New England Film and Video
Festival Curran won the Best Cinematography for his work as Director
of Photography on the documentary IDITARODžA FAR DISTANT PLACE, narrated
by Susan Sarandon. Over the past 10 years as a documentary photographer,
Tom has worked for ABC's WIDE WORLD OF SPORTS, Blackside's PBS series,
I'LL MAKE ME A WORLD, the Discovery Channel's DISCOVER MAGAZINE, and
Chedd-Angier's PBS series SCIENTIFIC AMERICAN FRONTIERS. He is a graduate
of Boston College.
Tracy Heather Strain
Producer
Tracy has worked in media production for the
past 19 years having started in advertising and direct marketing before
moving into television and film production in 1986. She worked at The
Chedd-Angier Production Company on the PBS series DISCOVER: THE WORLD
OF SCIENCE, and in the early 1990s she served as art department coordinator
on MISSISSIPPI MASALA, and a coordinator in acquisitions, development,
and production at Cinecom Entertainment, and later SCS Films. Tracy
held a variety of positions on Blackside's multi-award-winning PBS documentary
series THE GREAT DEPRESSION, AMERICA'S WAR ON POVERTY, and most recently
the Peabody Award-winning I'LL MAKE ME A WORLD: A CENTURY OF AFRICAN-AMERICAN
ARTS for which she produced, directed, and wrote two programs. Tracy
also works as a producer of educational videos, and is presently developing
the documentary SWEET DREAM: THE DONUT MOVIE. She is a graduate of Wellesley
College and the Harvard Graduate School of Education.
Llewelyn M. Smith
Writer
Llew produced, directed, and co-wrote, "Jubilee
Singers: Sacrifice and Glory" (2000) for PBS's AMERICAN EXPERIENCE.
He was Project Director for the Peabody and Emmy Award-winning PBS series,
AFRICANS IN AMERICA: AMERICA'S JOURNEY THROUGH SLAVERY (1998), and produced
and directed the fourth program, "Judgment Day." Llew was a contributor
to EYES ON THE PRIZE: AMERICA'S CIVIL RIGHTS YEARS (1985), and FROM
JUMPSTREET, A STORY OF BLACK MUSIC (1980). A graduate of Carlton College,
he recently served as Senior Producer for EYE ON EDUCATION, WGBH's multimedia
examination of Boston Public Schools. He is currently a contributing
producer to California Newsreel's HUMAN RACE, a three-part PBS series
that explores concepts of race in America.
Shondra Burke
Editor
Shondra's credits include main editor for Errol
Morris' award-winning feature documentary, FAST, CHEAP AND OUT OF CONTROL
and FIRST PERSON: "The Parrot," "The Stalker," "I Dismember Mama," and
"Digging up the Past" which aired on Bravo. Shondra recently edited
I CAN'T BREATHE, a documentary for MTV and the Mass. Dept. of Public
Health, directed by Pete Favat, as well as, HAVE YOU SEEN ANDY? a work-in-progress
documentary by Melanie McLaughlin. She has edited and post-produced
commercials for clients such as Ford, Sony and the Mass. Dept. of Public
Health's anti-smoking series. Shondra is a Magna Cum Laude graduate
of the University of Massachusetts at Amherst.
Todd Boekelheide
Composer
Todd began scoring films in 1981. In the early
part of his career he also worked as a music rerecording mixer, and
in 1984 he won an Oscar for mixing the music for AMADEUS. He has scored
several feature films, including DIM SUM, NINA TAKES A LOVER, and ONE.
Among the numerous documentaries he has scored are HEARTS OF DARKNESS:
A FILMMAKER'S APOCALYPSE, and Academy Award® nominee REGRET TO INFORM.
In 1999 he won an Emmy for his score for KIDS OF SURVIVAL: THE LIFE

Myna Joseph
Associate Producer
Myna is a freelance producer, cameraperson
and grip. She has associate produced several videos for colleges and
also produced video shorts for nonprofits in the Boston area. A graduate
of Wellesley College, her other projects include a documentary short
exploring her family¹s experience after the Armenian genocide, the short
fiction video FALLING TOGETHER and a photography and sculptural installation
about women¹s roles in the fishery of Lake Victoria, East Africa.
Jessica Lindley
Co-Executive Producer
Jessica's extensive fundraising experience
includes Deborah Hoffman's DEADLY DECEPTION, the 1991 Best Documentary
Short Academy Award® winner. She is the founder and former Executive
Director of Stop Handgun Violence, and has also served as the Regional
Director for Business Executives for National Security and fundraising
Director for Massachusetts Fair Share. A graduate of Boston University,
Jessica is a full-time mother.
Jamila Wignot
Production Assistant
Jamila, a graduate of Wellesley College, has
served a research assistant in WGBH's Resource Center. During college
she made two short videos: the fictional HEAD, SHOULDERS, KNEES AND
TOES and A SHORT STORY, a documentary. Both videos explore what it means
for women to reject conventional definitions of being female. Jamila
is presently a production assistant on California Newsreel's HUMAN RACE,
a three-part PBS series that explores concepts of race in America.
Laura Parker Roerden
Educational Outreach Producer
Laura has designed educational outreach projects
for the Corporation for Public Broadcasting, the National Basketball
Association, Ben & Jerry's Ice Cream, AT&T, Peter Yarrow Productions,
and the Resolving Conflict Creatively Program. Her numerous programs
include: "PeacePops" campaign for Ben & Jerry's promoting conflict resolution
skills in children; "Changing Channels," a media literacy kit for parents
including a Grammy-nominated children's song CD; "Don't Laugh at Me,"
the national anti-bullying campaign, with Peter, Paul & Mary, which
included a component for former Olympians; and the popular Adventures
in Peacemaking series for after school and daycare settings. She also
created the event content for "Safe Nights," a violence prevention event
simulcast nationally on PBS. Laura holds a master's degree from Harvard
University and has authored and edited many educational materials promoting
the social, emotional, and ethical development of children.
